It happens that when I installed the adobe flash-plugin for Firefox, libflashsupport was not among adobe flash plugin's dependencies.
Unfortunately without libflashsupport, there isn't any sound on flash videos.
If you are encountering the same issue, yum install libflashsupport from adobe flash repository.
Then test it with this video (Le Train pour Pau):

I have a 64bit machine so I installed libflashsupport.x86_64 witch didn't help. Then I realized that the flash player is 32bit so I removed the 64bit libflashsupport and installed the 32bit version instead. Sound works perfectly now.

Man, so many things that WORKED for me in Fedora 8 are BROKEN in fedora 9!
1) Importing images from my camera is broken
2) nvidia
2) Flash crashes all the time
3) The package Devede fails to convert videos
5) Pulseaudio is a constant pain
..and on and on and on ( and yes i've filed bug reports ).
From what i've read the underlying system is improving but at the expense of ( hopefully short term ) usability.
Very disheartening.

None of the installing and de-installing seems to work for me under FC9 on my Acer Travelmate 803LCi and a newly created user. What works is to kill pulseaudio after I log in.
Then both mplayer and flash work. What doesn't work is the little squib sounds when opening and closing windows. Sort of ugly but after having spent several days now on the FC9 upgrade, I'll just quote Johnny Bravo here:
"Yeah ... whatever".

It didn't work for me, I'm using Fedora 9 but it lead me to a different option,
but I'm not sure It needed this command too but I suggest you first do this and if it doesn't work
try the following command it should work,
yum install gnash-plugin

I install it with CLI "rpm -ivh flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-release.i386.rpm". I install lib with CLI "yum install libflashsupport". Reboot computer. Go yo YouTube and play. Now, I hear the sound.
