Strasbourg: Fete De La Science 2006

This was a fairly different event compared to that of Salon des Associations. The public was different. I mean really different. We had some FC5 DVDs and some ubuntu cds+stickers to distribute. Some people took these goodies _only_ because they were free, and without knowing what linux is and what we were demonstrating at the booth ! I just can't believe it.
Photos by NicolasRaoul, unfortunately Mirjam wasn't with us.:
Others were quite interested in what we are sharing. Our [LUG members] objectives were
1. talk about opensource scientific tools we have in linux
2. advertise the LUG of Strasbourg's activities
- La rentrée du libre
- Install Parties

Most of our public were more interested to hear about software solutions for graphic designers and professional publishers on linux or open source equivalent tools to Photoshop and .... This was their only blocker for the complete shift. Surely GIMP was the first tool for us to market. But they already knew about it :)

Fortunately DianaFong posted the 3D Blender FC6DNATheme. Blender did attract a fair number of graphic designers, while I've shown them the source template and its output (the FC6 wallpaper). +1 to our FedoraArtwork team :)

The scientific tools we demonstrated:
- Marc : celestia
- Thomas : Stellarium
- Antoine and Eric : Netlogo ( unfortunately not yet in FE )
- Me : (xcircuit,ngspice) , (ktechlab,piklab), gcompris
And random tools with respect to the public we had.

I used my FC for the first time in french for both events, if not it would rise questions about the french translation. However, I was quite surprised myself to see that french translation were perfectly done in fedora :) Kudos to ThomasCanniot, DamienDurand and their french team.

This is Mr Xen, He can virtualized any thing and he will do it ! Beware, don't come in his way !

Our next Linux Event will be "La rentrée du Libre"

Which will be held here, at the IUT d'Illkirch, Strasbourg:
Yes, we are looking forward to see you there in Strasbourg for "La rentrée du Libre":
